Brief history of FIT
The history of Electronic Engineering has started from the years 60’, with the Electronic Branch, as a part of the Faculty of Engineering.
On 1994 was established the Electronic Department and the Electronic Branch was composed by three divisions: Automation, Computers and Telecommunications.
On December 2007 was established the new Faculty of Information Technology (merging from the existing structures: Electronic Department, Institute of Informatics and Applied Mathematics and the Section of Informatics).
The study programmes of the FIT offers knowledge in the areas of telecommunication systems architecture, analogue and digital processing and transmitting techniques of multimedia signals, satellite systems, fibre optics systems, data transmission protocols, computer networks, sensor and ad-hoc networks, processing systems architecture, database structure, distributed systems, software engineering, Web technologies, main elements of electronic systems; electronic systems elements design, electronic systems applications in industry, etc.
